Why is this your favourite shirt? It is the first shirt that they gave me that is not Real Madrid. Among the boys in the neighborhood, it was normal to wear your team's most. It was a gift from my uncle for my birthday a few days after Borussia won the Champions League.

An excellent shirt from an excellent era for the club. Would you like to see Dortmund return to this colour for the home shirt? Yes, definitely. In my mind, Borussia Dortmund continues to play with the fluorescent yellow shirt. It is the colour they wore when I first learned about the team, from its great era and totally distinctive.

 

Are there any particular memories that come back when you see this shirt? Yes of course. I have worn it a lot, both to go down the street and to train in the team where I played for many years. Lots of training, lots of street games, lots of jokes about the fluorescent colour... "oh, your football is dazzling", "I'm blinded by your talent" and similar puns. The truth is that I played defence and I wasn't very skilled...

 

Any particular players that you really liked from that team? Andreas Möller, it cannot be anyone else.

 

How do you rate the shirts of today compared to years gone by? I think we tend to idealise the old in all facets of life and the same thing happens with football jerseys. I think it will have happened to all of us and some designs that at the time seemed horrible to us now seem like the most beautiful and coveted pieces. Very nice t-shirts have been made in recent years, but they still need nostalgia to do its job.

 

Although you love this Borussia Dortmund shirt who do you actually support? Real Madrid.

 

Why do you support Real Madrid? It comes from family. When I was little I watched the games on TV with my father and he always asked three questions: Who is playing? What colour are they? Who are we going with? So, the inheritance was clear, we support those in white. For my father, for his part, it came from his.

 

How do you view Real’s season so far? I have mixed feelings. What I most want is to see Real Madrid win three league titles in a row, since I've been following football I've never seen it. I have only seen two leagues in a row and only once. For this reason, seeing Real Madrid far from first place so soon saddens me. Obviously, the Champions League semi-finals and the cup final make up for it, but I still have that thorn in my side.

 

What was the first game you went to and what was the score? 30th March 1991, Real Madrid 0-1 Burgos. I was 5 years old.

 

Your best 11 from your time supporting Los Blancos? You ask me for the best, but I'm going to give you my favourite.
